Uche Sparks Straightforward Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity

This occasion provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Dominance Asserted from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
