'People are afraid' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the squad everyone fears.

There's little doubt why Arsenal have become many people's favorites to claim the Premier League in the current campaign.

Look at their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have overcome all of them during this campaign, but dropped 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Rearguard

Arsenal's backline resilience is a crucial element why they are looking well positioned to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), shots let in (3), attempts against (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their effectiveness from free kicks is highly documented, but opposition teams still find it difficult to neutralize the Gunners from these situations.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just wary of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is even more remarkable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City on home turf - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they keep winning, their traditional rivals are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having allocated around £250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far proven successful in style, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now functioning with confidence and resolve.
